See What Our Customers Have to Say

 10/15/2009

I met a friend here for dinner. My friend is a big fan, so I am very happy that I was let in on the secret!

Limeleaf is located in an "up and coming" part of Jacksonville, where there are shops on the main level and condos above (in addition to cobblestone roads). Since this area is so new, it is hard to find with a GPS/Mapquest, so take good notes once you have reached the restaurant  (take Southside-North off of 95, turn into Deerpark, look for signs for Tapestry  Circle).

The decor of the restaurant is sleek, contemporary, and sharp. We were met by friendly staff (thank you to my dinner companion who a "regular").

I ordered a Riesling (mmm, perfect). For dinner, I ordered the Cashew/Vegetable/Rice It was very good, and the presentation was nice as well. The soy sauce was not heavy, and the vegetables were just the right temperature.

The menu was extensive and the atmosphere was upbeat. I noted a full bar, so this would be a nice place for Happy Hour and "date night."

July 02, 2009 - You can usually judge a thai restaurant on how they prepare their Som Tam, a spicy green papaya salad that is a signature dish in thai cuisine. The som tam offered at Lime Leaf was the best I've had in Jacksonville, and possibly the best on the East Coast. We also ordered a Massaman Curry with Beef, and a Lad Na (wide rice noodles with scallops and shrimp in a brown sauce) Both were good. I had a glass of plum wine and my partner had a beer. The service and ambiance were excellent, but the bill with tip came to $84 which I think might be a little high for Thai dinner for two people.

The prior review warned about the spice factor of the food. Well, to those of us who invite the heat, it is this humble reviewer's opinion that the warmth scale at Lime Leaf is weighted for, um, the lightweights among us. Never really knowing how to definitively quantify those warmth scales, except to ask the wait staff, I ordered medium hot. By any standard, it was on the mild to medium side, rather than the medium to hot side. I suppose they do this because, like meat temperature, it's easier to do more to a dish, rather than undo what has already been done to it. I added a generous helping of an excellent hot pepper and oil condiment that notched it up a bit.

The food is awesome and well presented. Period. The atmosphere is modern and open with clean lines and tasteful decor, but I would not recommend it if you are looking for the type of place with those private corner tables that allow you get lost gazing in the eyes of your date.

Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the dish I had, but it had a "w" in the name, if that helps. This amazing dish is responsible for breaking me free of my perennial favorite, Pad Thai. I'm going back for more today!!

For the record, the area is called Tapestry Park, not Circle. The road is the circle part.

We read a review of this new Thai restaurant in the paper a couple of weeks ago.  The location was very close to Tinseltown .  It is in a neat little place called Tapestry Circle, which, if it takes off, will be quite a charming spot to hang out.  Ah yes, back to the restaurant.  My companions and I enjoyed our dishes.  They both ordered something with a peanut sauce.  I ordered Drunken Noodles with Shrimp, medium spice.  It was hot, and even their mild has a kick so consider yourself warned.  Anyway, just check it out, if you like Thai.  I don't think you will be disappointed.
April 25, 2009 - Love it! The basil fried thai rice and pad thai are sensational.... great depth of flavors and good size portions! been 3 times and look forward to having them around for a long time!
